My journey to Reflexology

Registered Reflexology Therapist

I'm so glad you're here. Before we meet in person, I'd love to share a little about who I am and the experiences that brought me to reflexology.

At sixteen, I became the youngest person ever invited to play trombone with Cape Breton's 26-piece swing band, The Right Stuff. Looking back, that experience says a lot about who I've always been. I've always been curious, eager to learn, and willing to step outside my comfort zone in pursuit of something meaningful.

If you had told me then that I'd one day become a Registered Reflexology Therapist, I'm not sure I would have believed you. Truthfully, I didn't even know reflexology existed at that point in my life.

My path has taken me through music, the early days of the internet, web design, administration, retail management, customer service, travel, and now holistic health. At first glance, those experiences may seem unrelated, but I don't see them that way. Looking back, every chapter has been connected by the same purpose: learning, growing, and supporting people.

Long before smartphones became part of everyday life, I found myself working in the rapidly evolving world of internet technology. My role often involved bridging the gap between technical teams, sales teams, and clients, translating complex ideas into practical solutions people could understand. I also had opportunities to speak with students about web design and development, experiences that reinforced my love of learning and supporting others.

Life has a way of reshaping us, and mine certainly did.

After the loss of my daughter, Jasmine, I found myself searching for a different way forward. Healing wasn't something that happened overnight, but through that experience I became increasingly drawn to holistic wellness. I wanted to understand not only how the body functions, but how stress, emotions, and the nervous system influence our overall health and well-being.

That search led me to study Reiki, eventually becoming a Reiki Master before discovering the path that ultimately led me to reflexology.

While working at Massage Addict, I had the opportunity to see firsthand the positive impact reflexology could have. When our reflexologist left the profession, I realized that, at that time, there were no Registered Reflexology Therapists serving our community. Although reflexology was available, access to registered reflexology care was not. I felt there was a genuine need for this level of training and care, and something about that stayed with me.

I completed my reflexology training and practicum just before the COVID-19 pandemic, with only my final exams remaining. Then the world shut down, delaying the final steps needed to become a Registered Reflexology Therapist. Although I was fully trained and able to practise as a reflexology practitioner, I wasn't yet able to become registered.

When the opportunity came to return to the program several years later, I chose to complete the updated curriculum rather than simply finish where I had left off. The program had evolved with additional case studies and a stronger clinical focus, and becoming registered meant my clients could submit their treatments to their insurance plans. It felt like the right investment, both in my professional growth and in the people I care for.

The more I learned, the more everything seemed to fall into place. Reflexology combined my love of learning, my curiosity about how the body works, and my lifelong desire to support others. What began as an interest quickly became a calling.

Today, every treatment I provide is tailored to the individual. No two people walk through my door with the same story, so no two treatments should be exactly alike. I take the time to understand your concerns, your goals, and what your body is telling us, because I believe healing isn't one-size-fits-all.

One of my favourite moments in every treatment is watching someone truly begin to relax. Their breathing slows, their shoulders soften, and for a little while the demands of everyday life fade into the background. Those quiet moments remind me why I chose this path.

My commitment to supporting others extends beyond my treatment room. I'm proud to serve on the Board of Directors and as Secretary for the Atlantic Canada Association of Reflexology Therapists, where I have the opportunity to support and strengthen my profession. I also enjoy volunteering with Highland Arts Theatre because I believe healthy communities are built by people who are willing to share their time, talents, and support.

Looking back, that sixteen-year-old musician couldn't have imagined where life would lead. But every experience, every challenge, and every opportunity to learn has helped shape the therapist I am today.

Whether you're seeking relief from stress, support for your overall well-being, or simply an hour to slow down, I'm honoured you've chosen to spend that time with me.

I look forward to meeting you and being part of your wellness journey.

Warmly,

Stacey Galloway, RRT
